Donate glasses and change someone's life!
Here at Nova Vision Care we are a Lions Club Eyeglass Donation center. We accept all prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses for our donation box. The Lions Club has stated that the children’s frames are needed the most but all donations give you the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. Our own Patient Care Coordinator, Paige Mullen, feels very passionate about this simple life changing opportunity and has asked that we advertise this option and we think it is a great idea! She provided us with a more detailed background on the Lions Club and we thought we would share her findings with our patients and online blog readers.
The Lions Club was founded in 1917 and they have worked hard on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eye sight, and improve eye health. They have gained worldwide recognition for their works in those projects. They currently have 18 worldwide recycling centers and continue to provide free eye health education. Amazingly enough it is very simple to help them out.
Changing Lives, One Pair at a Time
In just about any home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life. Imagine if you could help a child read. An adult to succeed in their job. A senior to maintain their independence. Basically, you can provide a community with more opportunities to grow and thrive.
Every day, the Lions Club recycled eyeglass programs do all of this and more. You can help by bringing in your old unused or unwanted glasses just collecting dust and taking up space in your home. Our optical department will take them from you and place them in the Lions Club donate box.
Throughout the year, when the box becomes full, Lions, Leos and other volunteers collect the used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers (LERCs). Then the LERC volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. The recycled glasses are then distributed to people in need in low and middle income communities where they will have the greatest impact.
The bottom line is-
Donate glasses and change someone’s life!
